By continuously measuring the activity of various radionuclides in the primary coolant of PWR nuclear power plant in real time, it can carry out online monitoring of the damage to the fuel elements. In case of any damage to the fuel elements, it can analyze the damage characteristics (number of damaged fuel elements, break size and burnup) of the fuel elements to timely provide objective data for plant operation decision-making and ensure the safe operation of the nuclear power plant. Compared with the traditional manual sampling measurement method, FDDS is a more rapid, accurate, and safe method for monitoring the damage to the fuel elements.
