Director of IAEA Division of Nuclear Security Elena Buglova Visits CIAE
On October 30, Elena Buglova, director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Division of Nuclear Security, and her delegation visited the China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE) for an exchange visit. Yang Hongyi, director general of CIAE, welcomed the guests warmly.
Yang Hongyi provided a comprehensive overview of CIAE for them. He emphasized that the collaboration between CIAE and IAEA is established on a strong foundation. With the support of IAEA, the State Nuclear Security Technology Center of China (SNSTC) and CIAE have been designated as the IAEA Collaborating Centre for Nuclear Security Technology, the first of its kind to be established by the IAEA in China. At the 67th IAEA General Conference, the collaboration cycle of the Cooperation Center was successfully extended until 2027.
Buglova spoke highly of the accomplishments achieved during the first cooperation cycle of the Cooperation Center. She recognized the solid foundation for cooperation between the two parties and expressed her hope for the Cooperation Center to enhance its role in the international nuclear security field. Buglova also expressed her anticipation of CIAE’s contributions in the field of nuclear security with IAEA’s platform support.
